Comprehensive Junior/Senior Package

Students can begin any time following their sophomore year

Program limited to 25 students

The Comprehensive Junior/Senior Package gives students a head start on the admissions process allowing them to better prepare to put their best self forward when applying to colleges.    

 

Initial Session (approximately 90 minutes)

  • Develop Student Profile.

  • Understand academic pathway, discuss course curriculum, review activities, begin to develop ACT/SAT plans, discuss college parameters, and create a preliminary college list.

 

On-going Sessions (50 minutes) include focus on: 

 

Resume/Activity Sheet

  • Understand factors most important to colleges

  • Identify gaps and ways to enhance resume

  • Summer activities to consider

  • Resume template in senior year

 

ACT/SAT Test Strategy

  • Determine test best suited for each student based on strengths and test parameters

  • Develop testing plan and timeline

  • Set goals based on projected colleges and potential

  • Know your chances for admission at each school

  • ACT/SAT on-line test prep course included.  Includes two free practice tests for each

 

College List Development

  • Create and/or build upon college list based on social, academic and financial fit

  • Consider potential majors to ensure options for each student

  • Develop a balanced list of Reach, Target and Likely schools

  • Understand admission requirements for each college

 

Campus Visits

  • Understand many ways to Demonstrate Interest

  • Determine appropriate schools to visit

  • Understand key information to gather while on campus

  • Keep notes in Aspire custom Notebook or Custom College Plan on-line portal

 

Student On-Line Portal 

  • Available 24/7 to keep students on track

  • College profiles include Fiske Guide review, peer schools, costs, merit aid and much more

  • Maintain college list and understand chances of admission 

  • List of all majors available at each school

  • Link to each college net price calculator, essays, website and online application

  • Campus videos 

 

Essay Development – Main Common App essay and up to six supplemental essays

  • Essay Brainstorming Workshop to determine topic and develop outline for main essay

  • Understand essay prompts for all colleges

  • Essay organizer to understand overlaps 

  • How to address supplemental essays

  • Essay review, critique and editing on-going

 

The Application Process

  • College admissions timeline each year

  • Understand application requirements and deadlines

  • Common App, Coalition and Institutional applications and strategy for each

  • Understand Early Action, Early Decision, Regular Decision plans….what to do?

  • Stay on track with deadlines through Custom College Plan on-line portal

  • Letters of Recommendation strategy

 

How to Pay for College

  • How to estimate costs for colleges on your list

  • Understand Cost of Attendance and Expected Family Contribution

  • Understand forms required and timing

  • Potential for merit aid scholarships

  • Scholarship workbook to explore external scholarships

 

Career/Major Consideration

  • Career Assessment to learn about best fit careers and applicable majors to consider

  • Identify other good fit colleges based on major/career fit

  • Career Exploration worksheets to research and identify best schools

  • LinkedIn workshop in spring of senior year.  Students will learn how to create a LinkedIn profile, how to connect with potential internships and job opportunities, how to network, and how to include words and skills that will increase visibility to employers

  • Mock interview

 

Meetings occur approximately:

  • Once a month in junior year

  • Once every 2-3 weeks in summer prior to senior year

  • Every 1-2 weeks once applications open in fall of senior year
